Reviewing Assessments
Assessment reviewers in Transcend are responsible for reviewing assessment responses submitted by respondents. Reviewers can comment, request changes, update risk scores, and sync responses with the Data Inventory.
Reviewer assignments can happen in several ways:
- Direct Assignment: The sender of the assessment becomes the default reviewer but can be changed by editing the "Reviewer" field directly in the assessments table
- Self-Service Assessments: The default reviewer is set as the creator of the assessment group from which the self-service link originates
- Setting a Default Reviewer: You can set a default reviewer for an entire assessment group to ensure consistency
To set a default reviewer:
- Navigate to the assessment group and click Edit.

- Select the desired reviewer from the Default Reviewer dropdown.

This ensures new assessments created within this group will have the default reviewer set automatically.
Assessment statuses can be tracked using the Status field:
- When respondents submit their answers, the status changes to In Review, and reviewers are notified via email

You are able to view an assessment at any time during its progress. The answers to each question become available once a respondent saves their responses, and the ability to provide your review is available once all sections of the assessment have been submitted.
To efficiently manage and view responses across multiple assessments:
- Use the column selector to customize and rearrange columns based on your review needs

NOTE: You cannot perform review actions to an assessment (i.e., accepting, rejecting, or requesting changes) from the table view. Each assessment must be reviewed individually to provide your official review decision.
When an assessment is ready for review, hover over the assessment row and click View Responses.

This opens the response review interface where you can:
- Comment on questions, sections, or the entire assessment
- Sync responses with the Data Inventory
- Provide your review decision

- General Comments: Click the "General Comments" button at the top left.
- Section Comments: Click "Section Comments" to the right of each section.
- Question Comments: Click the comment icon next to each question.

For supported question types, you can sync responses to the Data Inventory by:
- Selecting the relevant table, field (column), and row from the provided dropdown options.
- Changes will be applied upon approval of the assessment.

When performing the review, you will be presented with 3 decisions to act on the assessment response:
- Approve Response
- Reject Response
- Request Changes
Requesting Changes
If any adjustments are needed to responses provided, such as a lack of information or inconsistent answers, you can opt to return the assessment to the respondents to perform updates. To do this:
- Click the "Request changes" button in the top-right corner when reviewing the response
- In the "Request changes" modal, provide comments for the issues that should be addressed by the respondent
- (Optional) Select specific sections to be updated
- Click the "Request changes" button
When changes are requested:
- The assessment status becomes Changes Requested
- This moves the assessment out of review and requires action from the respondents to continue
- Respondents receive notifications and can see the feedback provided, allowing them to address issues before resubmitting.

Approving or Rejecting Assessments
Finalizing responses is straightforward:
- Click Approve or Reject in the top right corner of the response page.
- Approval is required for Data Inventory sync actions to take effect.

You've successfully reviewed your assessments and can proceed to subsequent steps based on your approvals or required actions.
